Crag Fund

Outdoor climbing development in the Philippines has depended entirely on cash donations of generous local climbers. If you want more rocks to climb on, or help guarantee the safety of climbing in the Philippines, please donate to the CRAG Fund.

Why donate?

  • To make a direct contribution to climbing development in the Philippines
  • To take an active role in keeping rock climbing a safe sport
  • To go to a climbing area and get a warm, fuzzy feeling, knowing that that route is up there because of you!

What will happen to my donation?

Your money will be used to buy different items that our volunteers need when developing climbing areas:

  • Bolts (for routes and route anchors)
  • Hangers
  • Anchor chains
  • Carabiners
  • Drill + Battery + Component replacements
  • Access development
  • Volunteers’ allowance

Click on the areas below to see where the Crag Fund (aka as Mackie’s Bolt Fund) went to in the past:

How much should I donate?

Any amount will be greatly appreciated. But as a guide, each steel bolt costs P40 to P60 depending on the length (route bolts are 12x70mm, anchors are 12x100mm) and each stainless steel hanger costs about P200. A typical route consists of eight route bolts and two anchors.  Anchor chains or carabiners would cost extra. If the cliff is near the sea, then the bolts cost three times that of the steel bolts.

What can I get in return?

Fame and fortune! You’ll be known as the generous and compassionate climber and earn more friends. More directly (and seriously), this makes your climbing playground bigger and increase in number. And that just makes everyone happier, doesn’t it?

How do I donate?

Climb Philippines is a purely voluntary effort and all contributions are non tax-deductible. If interested in donating, please email us and we’ll provide you with bank deposit and cash transfer options.
